Mostostal Kraków signed an agreement on the purchase of 100% of the shares of PPUH Konstalex

On Monday, 15 May 2023, Mostostal Kraków signed an agreement on the purchase of 100% of the shares of PPUH Konstalex. Thus, the Budimex Group company has increased its production capacity to 17,000 tonnes of steel structures per year. This volume positions the company as the leader of the domestic steel market. The sale document was signed by Jacek Lech, President of the Management Board of Mostostal Kraków, Jakub Tomaszewski, a member of the company’s Management Board, and Bożena Zbroja and Grzegorz Zbroja, the former owners of Konstalex.

The decision to acquire a company specialising in heavy structures aligns with Mostostal Kraków’s current development strategy. The Company aims to increase its production capacity and complement its offer with new types of steel structures. The acquisition of Konstalex’s infrastructure and contracts is also an important step towards building the company’s business independence and market position.

“I think I can say that as a manufacturer of steel structures, we are becoming a leader in Poland,” says Jacek Lech, President of Mostostal Kraków.”Looking at completed projects, we can see how many joint construction contracts we have shared with Konstalex over the years. We believe that this transaction will allow us to operate more efficiently
and holistically. Greater flexibility and production capacity also mean price stability and reduced risks – to the benefit of both ourselves and our customers. The combined strengths and experience of Mostostal Kraków and Konstalex give us opportunities we have not had before due to, among other things, formal or logistical constraints,” adds Jacek Lech.
Diversification of the business portfolio is an approach pursued throughout the Budimex Group.
In recent months, one of Poland’s most prominent construction groups has been increasing its involvement in new areas such as renewable energy and low-emission transport. It is also successfully establishing its presence in foreign markets – Germany, Chechia or Slovakia. Investment in manufacturing capacity is another important element in highlighting Budimex’s role as a company providing end-to-end solutions in the construction industry.

“We operate in difficult and volatile market conditions, which motivates us to seek a business model that guarantees stability and growth opportunities. Steel structures are an indispensable part of many of our projects, including road or rail construction. We can optimise costs and respond to potential supply chain disturbances thanks to our extensive storage
and production facilities. Thus, we create a significant advantage over competitors. This is a solid foundation for the Budimex Group to take on further ambitious challenges,” says Artur Popko, President of the Management Board of Budimex SA.

The establishment of a new PPUH Konstalex Management Board is planned in the coming weeks. It continues its production activity and execution of orders. It will operate under the current name and with an unchanged business profile.
PPUH Konstalex has been on the market since 1993. It manufactures heavy and steel structures. The production plant has a production and storage area exceeding 23,000 m². Konstalex specialises in projects for the energy industry and bridge structures.
